Exploring the Willow Convertible Cargo Jacket with Christina Karin

Written By Gavin Lipinski

The modern woman is undefinable, and, as local Chicago designer Christina Karin found, inspirational. Karin founded Christina Karin to reflect her love for versatility, sleekness and convertibility.  One of her most innovative and unique design perspectives is the wonderfully crafted convertible wardrobe pieces.

For some of us, we may have looked to the future and dreamt of flying cars or a self-cleaning kitchen– but we at Letty Sparrow will happily enjoy Christina Karin’s Willow Convertible Cargo Jacket in chocolate. The playful juxtaposition of a long skirt and a short jacket is such a classic look that you can have all in one with this cargo jacket of your dreams.

“Our inspiration truly was our customer, who is often traveling, running around, and can't necessarily pack three different outfits in a suitcase. We're really thinking about our woman and how we can be helpful in her wardrobe,” Karin says.

Karin’s collection also shines with a sophisticated color palette of natural earth tones. “It's just more of our aesthetic–timelessness. We don’t want people having to think too hard about what they're pairing with pieces in their closets,” said Karin. The ease of mixing and matching all of her pieces is a testament to the genius in the design. So there’s nothing to fear when shopping throughout the store!

“Because we're less trend driven and more about elevated pieces that you'll have in your wardrobe for many years to come, it naturally lends itself to this kind of a vintage olive color-way. It’s so neutral, and you can wear these colors year after year,” Karin says in reference to one of her more viral color-ways.

This more neutral color palette is the perfect canvas for you to paint upon. Dress it up, or dress it down, versatility is exquisitely embodied within each of Christina Karin’s pieces. So much of Karin’s design process is solutions-based, oftentimes rooted in real world problems she faces. Hence the inspiration for our favorite Willow Coat.

“If you're anything like me, jackets are tough. I can't take all of my coats with me when I travel, but you can take one great staple that you know you can wear multiple ways, and you don't have to worry about packing more items”.
